In A Bar Room Far From Home

In a sequined dress and high-heeled shoes, She stood alone in a mess of cowboy boots, And he was drinking, like any other night. But she stood tall, she was fine and fair, She had red lipstick on and a bow in her a hair, A ballroom girl in a barroom far from home, And he tipped his hat and said "Evenin' ma'am hello." "Evenin' ma'am hello, well there's something that I gotta know, Why's a girl like you in a place like this alone?" And then she grabbed his hand and said "I ain't alone no more." Well he'd offered his hand he was a high-kickin' man, Excuse me honey can I have this dance, He didn't give her a chance, To say no. But she was takin' three on the two-step floor, She was a pretty city girl, never danced before, All eyes on the woman who'd showed up all alone, She was a ballroom baby in a barroom far from home. And the band played loud, And they danced around, They were together in each other's arms, With each other in each other's arms, And he dipped her down, Down to the ground. And she was happy that she'd hung around, She was the happiest woman in town. Last call, last song, the lights come on, The bar closes down, and the night rolls on, And he's still sittin' with his friends talking 'bout this girl. She had a sequined dress, and high-heeled shoes, The city girl that left him with the barroom blues, And he's still drinkin' like any other night. |
